Laboratory Facilities

Specialized laboratory spaces support research in all four subfields of Anthropology, and can all be found in Blodgett Hall.

The Archaeological Research Suite contains equipment, computers, and comparative collections for geographic information systems (GIS) analysis, preparation and study of artifacts, and zooarchaeological research.

The Human Evolution and Development (HEAD) Lab is outfitted with several computers, a virtual reality station, a 3D surface scanner, and a 3D printer, enabling state-of-the-art research on bones and fossils of humans and other primates.

The facilities in the Language, Culture, and History Lab allow students and faculty to prepare transcriptions of data from audiovisual formats and archival sources, edit videos, and engage in linguistic research.

The Visual Anthropology Lab contains a virtual reality station and video editing software for the exploration of ethnographic representation through film.
